BMI Songwriter of the Year and Sheryl Crow collaborator Trott has achieved a marvel of 5.1 sound with Digging Up The Astroturf, although the songs aren't everything you'd expect from a BMI Award recipient. They're good tunes, just largely unremarkable (think Beatles-esque power pop at about 75% potential...Trott can do, and has done, better). This leaves one to assume that sonics, as opposed to songs, were the primary concern. Based on that, give Jeff Trott a hand: Digging Up The Astroturf tickles the ear like a porn star slobs the knob. Even if the songs aren't as pleasing, audiophiles will have much to fuel their geeky chatter. That said, the rating is for sound geeks. A
