Dr. Ring-Ding & the Senior Allstars
Dandimite! (Moon Ska Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Moon Ska Records is known for it's quality, and for it's talent of bringing us one of the juiciest line-ups of ska today. Dr. Ring-Ding and the Senior Allstars is no different. Combining ska, rock steady, and reggae to form a very precise combination that is sure to keep your ears attentive all through the sixty nine minutes of pure ear candy.

Dandimite is eighteen tracks (if you include the starting phone conversation) of non-stop horns, and horns, and more horns that will just make you fell so warm while you listen to this CD. Combine the relaxing sense the horns add to the music with the rest of the band, and you have a sure fire pleaser. Track two, "Dandimite Ska," is a fun instrumental that takes you away with excitement. The brief keyboards, the full horn sound, and the quick ska guitar make this a great track to start the album out with. Track three, "Big Man," combines a nice Jamaican feel to the voices, with horns that light up the ska, and the always present ska guitar, which will make you want to get up and dance. Shake your body to the music. You'll want to swing and sway with the horns, and you'll want to tap your feet along to the rhythm of the guitar. Track seven, "What A Day," includes some great bass, and Dr. Ring Ding doing some nice vocals. This song has less of a Jamaican feel to the vocals, and more of a soothing voice that just wants you to relax while it sings to you the song. Track twelve, "Gloria," kicks it off a nice drum beat, and then the rest of the bands enter. More of Dr. Ring Dings soothing voice that just wants you to kick back and enjoy the CD. Track fifteen, "Stay Out Late," has more of the brilliant horns that you will wonder how you lived without, more of Dr. Ring Ding's great vocals, and some classic ska guitar. Mix that into the mix with some nice cymbals keeping the beat, and a steady bass line, and you'll fall in love over and over again with Dr. Ring Ding and the Senior Allstars. Track eighteen, the final track, starts out with someone talking about something for about twenty seconds, and you'll have to rewind it over and over again to understand what he is saying (or atleast I did.) Then the band will take you up, up, and away with their brilliant horn section, ska guitar, steady bass lines, and good quality percussion. A great way to end the CD, the same way you started out, with a smooth instrumental.

Dr. Ring Ding and The Senior Allstars are truly amazing. From the amazing horn section spitting out the notes left and right, to the fine tuned ska guitar, to the bass and percussion. It's all here, and more! I have to give this CD an A+. It makes you feel so warm inside, while you are sitting back enjoying the comfortable tunes. Whether you grab a partner and start dancing to this CD, or just sit back and relax, you will find enjoy all sixty nine minutes of this CD!
