Tarnation
Mirador (Reprise Records)

By: Alex Steininger

I had never heard of Tarnation before, so when I put this CD in I didn't know what to expect. And when I put it in, my chin dropped. It wasn't that I was blown away, it was that I was surprised at what I had heard. Tarnation is a combination of country, rock, pop, and whatever else you can think of and thrown into a blender. After reviewing several rock CD's, this was a weird one for me. I listened to the CD several times, but only came up with the conclusion that if you hate Top 40 music, can't stand the radio, but like your music soft and relaxing, and you enjoy a beautiful voice you'll enjoy this CD. Taking all this into consideration, I'm going to have to say that this CD is worth a C-. I just couldn't get into it, because honestly it wasn't my cup of tea. They sounded pretty talented, and the female's beautiful voice that lead everything was quite relaxing. It did give me a very gentle feeling, however. So if you are looking for something relaxing that you can fall asleep to, six and think about, or just play in the background as a stress reliever in your hectic life, check out this release by Tarnation.
