The Showcase Showdown/August Spies
Assemble Your Own Dictator split 7"

By: [email protected]

Showcase Showdown side: as always this is extremely quick catchy pogoesque punk rock. Mike Barnacle and Another Emergency are the two songs they contribute, and they are hilarity at its best. The August Spies are generic punk/oi music with no distinguishing factors except that it seems they often play gigs with The Showcase Showdown, their obvious superiors. They play Stalin and Da' Spies. The cover art on this record is what originally caught my eye. It is cut and paste style art with five easy steps to assembling a dictator. The back has a the poster art from most of the shows the August Spies and The Showcase Showdown have played together. If you can pick this record for as cheap as I did (under three dollars) definitely pick it up for the Showcase side. (Tario Records, 23 Pomeroy St., Allston, MA 02134, USA).
