In the Beginning There Was Rap Priority Records By: Wes Eckmayer
"In the Beginning the Was Rap" is a compilation of cover songs done by today's top acts. Maybe an interesting concept. But the way it is handled is boring. The same beats with little variation of the lyrics may be novelty but not worth buying. Did you really ever wish you could her B-Reeal of Cypress Hil doing BDP's "I'm still Number One"? Most songs come off flat like this. The only highlight is Master P, surprisingly, on his cover of Ice-T's "6 AM" and Bone doing N.W.A.'s "Fuck the Police". Neither one of these groups are liked at all by me. But they are the most successful cause they capture the energy of those songs. The rest seem to be just going through the motions. I think the acts should have altered the songs more.
