Grasshopper and the Golden Crickets The Orbit of Eternal Grace (Beggar's Banquet) By: Geoff Melton
On the orbit of eternal grace, Mercury Rev guitarist Grasshopper has teamed up with flautist Suzanne Thorpe for a beautiful album of lush, dreamy tunes, largely psychedelic, but also delving into a few other eclectic forays along the way. Although the layers of sound, from the flute, fuzzed-out guitars, bass and percussion to the sounds of cicada's chirping, at times draw similarities to Mercury Rev, the stripped down approach gives the orbit of eternal grace a more minimalistic feel.
