Blood for Blood Spit My Last Breath 12" (Open Handed Records) By: Jeb Branin
This is the vinyl press of BLOOD FOR BLOOD's first album. It is a slightly less misanthropic endeavor than their second album and in a lot of ways a little more effective. The metal influenced hardcore is in full swing as is the totally effective use of mid and slow paced songs to emphasis heaviness. Fans of nyhc bands in the JUDGE vein should be totally thrilled with this record, although BFB hail from Boston. Appropriate since Boston has been the on again, off again capital of hatecore since the inception of genre. This isn't classic sounding ala NEGATIVE F/X in any way but those into the testosterone laced sound of the new breed of hards will flip. I must admit I didn't delve too deeply into the lyrics on this record but I get the impression that this in one band who are striving for a catharsis with their vile spewing as opposed to advocating mindless violence... but be warned this is one angry record. Have you ever wanted to spit in life's face? Well BFB do so right here.
