Nazareth Boogaloo (CMC International) By: Jeb Branin
These hard rock legends have been churning out the goods almost non-stop for 30 years. Apparently nobody told them that after that long they are supposed to sound stale, jaded, and tired. Instead they sound energetic, revitalized, and rockin'. Dan McCafferty's voice sounds great. That classic rock n' roll rasp is fully intact. Musically the album kicks of really strong with tracks like "Light Comes Down" and "Cheerleader". The band goes stale for a couple of cuts in the middle of the disc but pick it up again by the time that funky bass line kicks off track number seven "Party In The Kremlin." You ever wonder what bands influenced the likes of AC/DC, KISS, and AEROSMITH? Well certainly NAZARETH was one of them. Unfortunately in the U.S. they haven't really enjoyed much attention or notoriety since 70's classics like "Hair of the Dog" and "Razamanaz", but maybe their new relationship with CMC international will aid in correcting that. If anyone understands the rock 'n roll might of NAZARETH, it is CMC. For those out of the loop file this somewhere between the aforementioned AC/DC (Bon Scott era) and DEEP PURPLE.
