Buried Alive
The Death of Your Perfect World (Victory Records)

By: Jeb Branin

I have no idea why but it seems to me that metallic hardcore is one of the most oft maligned genres in the underground. Perhaps not coincidentally it is one of the most popular. For some reason the hardcore minions can tolerate all kinds of divergent opinions and attitudes unless those opinions and attitudes are ones expressed by a band playing Victory style hardcore. Well I've never been one who gives a tinkers damn for scene politics, I instead opt for the crazy notion that a band should be judged on the quality of their music and ideas... and that the quality of one is not necessarily and indictment of, or assurance of, the other. In the case of BURIED ALIVE both are top notch. Purely raging hardcore fury delivered with a sharply honed metal edge. Intelligent lyrics and socially aware lyrics add to the appeal of "The Death of Your Perfect World". This is one of the heaviest hardcore albums you are ever gonna hear so make sure your safety belt is securely fastened bef! ore you push the play button.
