Lefay
The Seventh Seal (Noise Records)

By: Jeb Branin

I'm not quite sure I like the fact this band have shortened their name from MORGANA LEFAY because it seems more generic now somehow, but I certainly have no complaints about the music. LEFAY continue their quest to create the perfect metal album. Blending the best in traditional heavy metal with the finest progressive flavors this is an album that transcends the limitations of genre. Anyone with a keen ear for hard rock, metal or prog rock is going to find something to connect with on this CD. The music is intelligent, complex and riveting yet packs enough of a punch to make sure that nobody mistakes this band for anything less than heavy metal (although they could certainly be described as something more than metal). Fans of SAVATAGE definitely need to take heed of this CD because everything from the production to the vocals of Charles Rytkonen are going to strike a chord. The guys in NEVERMORE are big fans of LEFAY as well and you can't get a much better recommendation in metal circles than that.
