Demo (Mainline)

By: Jeb Branin

This is kick-your-ass, tough-as-nails punk rawk fury. MAINLINE are as subtle as an earthquake and as gentle as a blow torch to the privates. In more ways than one this reminds me of the punch delivered by TESCO VEE AND THE HATE POLICE. It has the same thickness and relentlessness. The gruff vocals and throbbing guitars manage to achieve that tricky balance between melody and heaviness. Speaking of heaviness... the third tune on this tape (I don't know titles, sorry) starts with a riff that is highly SABBATH-esque and then kicks it out in a frantic explosion of speed. It is my favorite tune on the demo although there are plenty of others that give it a run for its money. In fact, there isn't a weak moment to be found. I don't know if this demo has found its way to vinyl yet but I am telling you in no uncertain terms that this just screams to be pressed onto 7" of color vinyl and worm its way into the souls of punks everywhere.
