Aunt Beaph
2000 AB (Crustacean Records)

By: Jeb Branin

AUNT BEAPH come at it from every direction. There are not two songs on this CD that sound alike. This is some incredible diversity on display. They can play it rough and tumble with punk and metal influenced riffs. They can also play it smooth with oddball tunes that sound like some mutated mix of Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop. They have futuristic post modern sounds contrasting vibes that feel like they were surgically removed from the sixties, both happening at the same time in the same song. This is truly alternative. Not as in the MTV definition but as in the "alternative to all the sound alike crap out there." I can guarantee that you have never heard anything quite like this before. Take a chance and expand your horizons by picking this up. Unless, of course, you like every CD in your collection to sound like every other one.
