David Parmley & Continental Divide
There'll Always Be A Rocking Chair (Pinecastle Records)

By: Alex Steininger

David Parmley, co-founder and lead singer of The Bluegrass Cardinals, backed by his new band, the Continental Divide, whips up traditional and contemporary bluegrass with plenty of vigor and punch. There'll Always Be A Rocking Chair delivers twelve bluegrass stompin' pieces sure to make your mouth water and your feet itch for this superb act.

The title track quickly delivers mid tempo, but punchy bluegrass you'll enjoy. The vocals are steaming, the banjo quick footed and burning up, the light percussion struts throughout the song, and the fiddle becomes a voice of its own, singing with every note. "No One Here To Love Me Now" lays down a steady pace and follows it throughout, "Mountain Laurel" picks things up with some fast grooves to move to, and ""I Ain't Leavin'" gives you plenty more to dance with.

If you're looking for contemplative bluegrass that will make you think and feel, but give you plenty to dance with, David Parmley & Continental Divide hit it on the head with There'll Always Be A Rocking Chair, one of the best bluegrass albums to be released this year. I'll give it an A.
