Dead Voices on Air Frankie Pett Presents Happy Su (Invisible Records) By: Alex Steininger
I read the liner notes, the descriptions to each song, and they greatly intrigued me. Not only does the music sink into your subconscious and get you thinking (not to mention feeling), but the words in the booklet - which are much more than words - get you thinking, too. Here is an album that lives up to its title. Dead Voices on Air has the faint, escaping sound of dead voices on the air, slipping by you at every glance, never caught by the naked eye, but logged by the ear as the sounds and textures float by.Read the description of each song while listening to them and you'll be taken away to another mindset. Now, a lot of people say that about music, and it's usually not true. But, take my word for it, Dead Voices on Air will have your head spinning from the first moment you put the linear notes to the music. From then on out, you'll think differently when listening to this album. I'll give it an A.
