Burnt By The Sun Burnt By The Sun (Relapse Records) By: Jeb Branin
BURNT BY THE SUN have definitely studied the plans by which Dillinger escaped and on this four song ep turn in a monstrous hardcore/grindcore/math metal performance. This CD is a barnstormer from the first note to the last. Blisteringly intense and radically over the top, BURNT BY THE SUN allow for no holds barred as they attempt to splinter your cranium. Just as 80s crossover provided a vehicle for hardcore kids to discover metal and metal kids to discover hardcore, I predict that this DEP-style cacophony will provide a bridge between power violence style fastcore and metal-tinged grind. As unbelievable as it is, there is truly a gulf between these two genres for a lot of people. I can't tell you how many idiots have written me asking me why Relapse is "turning into a hardcore label."
