Michael J. Sheehy Ill Gotten Gains (Beggars Banquet) By: Alex Steininger
Faint, drowsy, and dark, Michael J. Sheehy's Ill Gotten Gains is as mysterious as it is beautiful. Sheehy's voice is soft and dark, talking or nearly whispering the words that float around your mind while the intricate, oft-spooky sounds creep in and out of the songs, yearning to be heard, but hiding underneath Sheehy's unintentionally overshadowing voice. The outcome is sheer mystical beautiful; its hard to put your finger on why you are so compelled to this CD. But, you are very compelled to it and can't resist, as the temptation is too great, and Sheehy's musical vision is that of a man who knows what he wants, and how to get it across to the listeners so they want it too. I'll give it an A. 15
