Vivisick
Punks Were Made Before Sounds 7" (Sound Pollution)

By: Jeb Branin

While mainstream Japan debates whether of not rice should be imported from California, the extreme underground in Japan debates which homegrown fastcore band is most likely to inflict bodily harm upon exposure to their music. VIVISICK are definite candidates for that honor. On their Sound Pollution debut ep "Punks Were Made Before Sounds" VIVISICK encapsulates all that makes hardcore from the Land of the Rising Sun some of the best in the world. The vocals are pure hysteria - screeching and screaming - in many ways reminiscent of peers F.O.B. The music is a cyclone of thrashing-at-full-velocity-core with a few slower parts thrown in to emphasize the harshness and violence. The overall impact of the music is reminiscent of 80s Japanese hardcore but with a definite new millennium execution.
