Land of the El Caminos
Subourbon (Boojm Records)

By: Alex Steininger

I'm always on the lookout for good rock bands with good lyrics and that extra touch that makes the rock worth it. Land of the El Caminos, fronted by Dan Fanelli, writes great rock songs with good lyrics. And what's more is Dan Fanelli's voice has the right amount of slick-ness and style mixed with the perfect bit of muscular growl. This is punk rock for those that don't to play punk rock and just want to rock out. This is truly music that reminds me of El Caminos. It's care free, reckless, and a bit white trash, but has all the charm and allure that keeps you coming back. Forget about the radio pretenders, Land of the El Caminos deliver punchy, hard hitting rock 'n' roll that is fun. When did rock get pretentious? I don't know, but too many rock bands take themselves seriously, while Land of the El Caminos just crank out rock 'n' roll for those that still believe. I'll give this an A.
