Memphis Radio Kings
Memphis Radio Kings (Memphis Radio Kings)

By: Alex Steininger

There are very few alt-country bands left that don't wear out their welcome quite quickly. The majority of them are generic knock-offs of great alt-country bands. However, Seattle's the Memphis Radio Kings are one of the few that still play good ol' rock 'n' roll with country twang and make it sound good!

Their debut, self-titled EP is a knockout collection of beer-stained, rootsy rock and cryin' in your beer ballads. From the shuffle of "Givin' Up" to the poppy-twang of "Throw My Ashes" through the drunken lament "Do You Still Want Me," the band plays with flair and heart. I'll give this a B.
