 BORKNAGAR stand out in my mind as one of the most inconsistent bands on the Century Media roster. Sometimes they deliver top notch black/dark metal and sometimes they churn up pure garbage. This album is an stellar example of both. There are moments that almost give me hope for the future of dark metal and there are moments that remind me of why I have given up on most of the genre as boring tripe that can't decide if it wants to rock or if it wants to try and be third-rate rock opera. Unless you are a hardcore fan, I would avoid this. Too bad, since main man Oystein is such a great guy.
