Citizen Cope Citizen Cope (Dreamworks Records) By: Alex Steininger

Hip-hop for the new millennium, Citizen Cope wraps his rhythms around radio-friendly hooks, backing it all up with smarts and ingenuity that even the hardest street cred artists will spin their heads to take a listen to. This is electro-induced pop music that fits in with the hip-hop kids, the rockers, and the punkers. Think a younger, more experimental Everlast. If Dreamworks does their job right, there is no reason Citizen Cope won't blow up on radio, as this is smooth, hook-laden, and clever, the type of ballsy record that is going to bring the suburban hip-hop kids together with the commercial rockers. I'll give it an A.
