Actionslacks Never Never Shake, Baby (Post-Parlo) By: Alex Steininger

San Francisco's Actionslacks, in between full-lengths, follow-up last year's exceptional The Scene's Out of Sight (Self-Starter Foundation) with Never Never Shake, Baby. An EP that finds the band offering up a live selection off of their latest full-length ("I Hope This Makes It Easier For You"), a cover of "She Talks In Stereo", another selection off of The Scene's Out of Sight ("Shining Jewels (Remix)"), and two outtakes. The two outtakes, "Annie Oakley" and "Iron Anchor", showcase a harder edge for the band, taking a step back from the hook-laden, tight pop of The Scene's Out of Sight, preferring instead bass-propelled and chunky guitar-driven loud rock that will make you want to move. All and all, a nice prelude to their next full-length. I'll give it a B+.
