Pentagram Sub-Basement (Southern Lord) By: Jeb Branin

Oldschool doom originals PENTAGRAM are still plugging away after 25 or so years... If you've never heard of them, don't fret, as their new CD title indicates they are "Sub-Basement," or in other words, so underground they are underneath the underground. Unless you are a diehard doom metalhead with a strong taste for 70s flavored metal and hard rock (ala MOUNTAIN, TED NUGENT, IRON BUTTERFLY, or "Not Fragile" era BTO) you may wish they had stayed unknown. I admit to having a very soft spot for this groove laden brand of guitar heroics but for many I'm guessing there just isn't enough BLACK SABBATH worship here (although there is quite a bit) to cut the mustard...
