The Quags
Out in the Community (Paisley Pop)

By: Alex Steininger

Melodically rich, harmony capable pop-rock revolving around solid songwriting, The Quags, who write damn good pop songs, also know how to rock out, turning the sweet into the gritty, leading with a rock 'n' roll jab, and following with a flurry of pop hooks. Though, when they hit you with the rock, don't expect the pop to soothe you over, because when they want to rock, the hooks may be there, but the tone of the guitar will keep you rocking for the duration. If they want, they'll let you take a breather the next track with more melodic pop, or make you sweat again as the rock 'n' roll comes alive at the hand of The Quags.

Though their influences can be heard, The Quags stand on their own, delivering hook-laden, but balls-y rock 'n' roll that sounds good on disc but probably eats you alive in a live setting. I'll give it a B+.
