Chitlin Fooks Did It Again (Palomine/A Hidden Agenda Record) By: Alex Steininger
Bringing an element of Americana to the lo-fi indie scene, Chitlin Fooks' sophomore effort, Did It Again goes from the old-time jazz of "Don't Wait Up" to the country of "La Strada". The male/female duo partake in duets and trade off on vocals, traveling through weepy melancholy and downright danceable numbers, intertwining their love for sparse pop arrangements with their sensible Americana-country songwriting leanings. It is an odd pairing on paper, but when heard, somehow Chitlin Fooks make it work. I'll give this a B-.
