 A collection of recordings circa 1973-1982 from the archives in Gary Wilson's San Diego apartment, all previously unreleased or pressed on vinyl and never exceeding 500 copies. Forgotten Lovers finds the synth-soul man delving into funk and jazz fusion, creating a surreal swirl of sound and texture, showing the influence he has had on many retro revisiting artists such as Beck (who gives him a shout at on "Where It's At"). Forgotten Lovers is a soulful, groove-filled collection of quirky, simmering sounds. Whether it's the late-night smoky jazz club or out in left field soul vibe he's going for, he nails it, and gets you dancing. I'll give it an A-.
