Jetplane Landing
Els Quatre Gats (Small Town America)

By: Cam Lindsay

Embracing their dedication to mindbending metalisms previously demonstrated by such staples as Shellac and Helmet, Jetplane Landing combine screaming with the crunchiest guitar riffs known to man. Bordering somewhere between hardcore and mathrock, it's hard to pinpoint the terrain Jetplane Landing are, well, aiming to land their sound. This EP contains four songs that never quit, pumping out loudness through every pore. There is no melody like Helmet tended to show in their later work, and they lack the constructive and masterful edge that Steve Albini tends to put into everything he touches, but Jetplane Landing have enough guts and glory to try something different with their noise. Championed by Kerrang!, yet nowhere near that metal favored by the kids, this band is making captivating noise that should definitely be heard.
