Various Artists: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 28 Days Later (XL/Beggars) By: Cam Lindsay
What is the best way to soundtrack a film about the apocalypse set in the heart of London? Well, it's all right here on the soundtrack to Danny Boyle's latest film about brain-eating zombies infesting the city, 28 Days Later. It's a rather intense affair, as it should be since we're dealing with music accompanying the end of the world, but it is done with enough chills and eerieness to make anyone sob from fear. Though it is basically a score, the album has moments that make the listening experience more enjoyable. "AM 180" by Grandaddy is thrown in to mix things up a bit, and Brian Eno's "An Ending (Ascent)" chills things out perfectly, almost to a creepy degree, but that's exactly what he is here for. The single, "Season Song" by Blue States, is a magnificent piece of Axelrod-inspired, orchestral beauty. Led by a children's choir, and a powerful symphony, the song is a perfect addition to something meant to sound so hopeless.
