Matthew Everybody Down (Ryko Disc) By: Alex Steininger
Pretty and polished, the pop-rock of Matthew is both mature and heartening, leaning more towards the softer, adult-pop side of the spectrum, but they're not without their rocking side. Allowing the guitars to breathe here and there, Everybody Down has a few loud moments. The general demeanor of the record, however, is subdued, glossy pop-rock with sparkling melodies, to the point of you being unable to resist it. Though, the sheen bleeds out the emotions of the CD, leaving the CD blander than bland at points. I'll give it a C+.
