Circle of Dead Children
Human Harvest (MMC)

By: Jeb Branin

I always get a kick out of CODC. They are very outspoken about the fact they are not a gore-grind band, rather a band with violent socio-political observations and commentary, yet they continue to release albums with titles like "Genocide Machine" or their latest "Human Harvest." Complicating things is the fact that the cover art for the new CD seems to be a female corpse lying in a bed of thorns. I used to think it was just poor judgment by the band, but I've now come to the conclusion it has to be intentional. Probably a tongue in cheek exercise for CODC and their select fans who are sharp enough to get it. Regardless, any fan of over-the-top CARCASS inspired grindcore is going to think they've died and gone to sewer-growl heaven when they hear this album. CODC absolutely shred. They are as violent as the U.S. war machine and capable of doing even more damage, especially to your eardrums. With songs as short as six seconds and as long as four minutes, you get a band that has the confidence and ability to do pretty much anything they choose to in the grindcore arena. Very, very good stuff.
