Entrance Honey Moon EP (Tiger Style Records) By: Alex Steininger
On his home recorded EP, Guy Blakeslee (aka Entrance), delivers nine blues songs, and over thirty four minutes of pre-wartime, ragged, acoustic blues songs that are intimate and portrait like, allowing you to peak into the mind of their creator. But, Entrance detaches himself enough from the songs to make the listener realize they are listening to a portrait, and not reading his diary, a beautiful contrast that keeps you also focused on his guitar playing and the structures of the songs, instead of just dwelling on the words. Yes, the Honey Moon EP is a meaty EP, almost able to pass itself off as a full-length; but, this is all to the delight of the fan. Blues done indie rock style with a lot of emotion and originality soaked in, you can't go wrong here. I'll give this a B+.
