Roadmap of Pain (Firebox)

 Hailing from Finland, TOTAL DEVASTATION has created something very distinctive with its CD "Roadmap of Pain". Much of their sound is NEUROSIS-styled in that it is dark and brooding and utilizes plenty of atmospherics. To that basic foundation they add some minor industrial touches and lots and lots of death metal. The album fluctuates between fast, mid-paced and plodding, which for many albums is often a distraction, but by contrast is pulled off with ease here. A very solid release, which will cross genre lines in its appeal.
