Phantom Limbs Displacement (Alternative Tentacles) By: Jeb Branin
This is creepy and dark and sinister. Like so much on Alternative Tentacles there is no simple description of PHANTOM LIMBS, but goth meets death rock meets punk meets spine-tingling rock n' drool seems like a good place to start. The music is oddly quirky and upbeat for this sound, like if 45 GRAVE had been more danceable. It's funny the memories listening to this is bringing back. I haven't thought about this in years but I remember in the mid-80s giving my copy of 45 GRAVE's "Sleep In Safety" tape to some death rocker at my high school who was a total loner because I felt like doing something nice for him because everyone always made fun of him. I just walked up to him at lunch one day and gave him the tape. I didn't even know his name. I said, "I think you'll like this" and I walked away. To be honest, I didn't much care for 45 GRAVE. I love PHANTOM LIMBS. I don't know if I would give it away.
