All State Champion
Is It Nothing To You (Five One Inc.)

By: Mike SOS

All State Champion display all of the faculties of an '80s indie punk band, aptly shown on the outfit's latest 10-track release. Tracks like "Regret's a Bitter Taste" swirl around like Fugazi meeting At the Drive In at a Thursday show, highlighting the band's deeply intriguing guitar work and intense screams from far away which lead up to fascinating musical crescendos. This Canadian quartet's seriousness shines through on songs like "Sinking Ship", using dissonant rhythmic rumblings to hammer its point home, while tracks like "Work is Killing Me" displays the band as a unbreakable unit, complete with a driving rhythm and group choral vocals. Emphatic and emotive, IS IT NOTHING TO YOU is bound to sweep you away from the mundane and into the tumultuous yet elegant musical landscape of All State Champion.
