Saves the Day In Reverie (Dreamworks Recodrs) By: Alex Steininger
Former pop-punk stars Saves the Day have ditched the punk on their forth, and first for Dreamworks, record, In Reverie, a shining, hook-laden example of the band's glossy, well-produced, radio-ready modern pop-rock sound. From the lush to the undeniably sugary, the group's rock appetite is all but gone, sounding lesser than they try to rock, and on more solid ground when they delve into the rich pop that seems to brew inside them now. In Reverie is a glorious record from a band that, by all accounts, should have never made such a stunning collection of pop songs; rather, they were on course to be another run-of-the-mill pop-punk band before turning around and heading in a new direction - and succeeding. I'll give it a B+.
