 San Francisco's Swell's Whenever You're Ready, their eighth full-length, continues with the band's unique combination of dream pop soundscapes alongside Americana textures. Hard to pigeonhole, the band's strength is their songwriting craft, regardless of genre, writing warm, listener-friendly songs that feel roots-y and down-home, even when soaring hooks are embedded. Like a good wine, Swell is getting better with age, their graceful songwriting growing older, wiser with them. I'll give this a B-.
