Tishamingo
Tishamingo (Innerstate Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Southern rock with a jam-band sense to them, Tishamingo's self-titled record on Innerstate Records is a hootenanny, a free-flowing, rock 'n' rolling record of passionate grooves, steady rhythms, the kind of record you can shake and rattle too, but also grab someone and dance to as well. It's got hearty guitars, soulful vocals, a warm organ that drenches the song with a vibrant flavor, and lots of sunset-esque beauty to it you can't help but want the sun to set on you while this record takes you into the night. It's only drawbacks are it's careful and reserved, takes chances only when they know there is no chance. However, that is par for the course for adult-oriented Southern rock bands with a jam-flavor. But, Tishamingo do it well; it doesn't grow on your nerves, rather you bask in it. I'll give it a B-.
