The Mass City of Dis (Crucial Blast) By: Jeb Branin

THE MASS are one of those rare bands that is trying something new with their sound and it pays off in spades. By combining seizure inducing thrashcore with sax-driven anti-jazz and pummeling math metal THE MASS concocts a surprisingly harsh and malevolent wall of noise that somehow manages to remain accessible. This is not so far in left field that listeners won't have a context for it but it is far enough out there that someone looking for a band that stands out from the crowd is going to be pleased. The CD comes with a live video clip as well so you can better understand how they incorporate the saxophone into their show.
