The Dont's Misc Radio Leakage (self-released) By: Alex Steininger
California's The Dont's have created an unusual indie-rock blend on Misc Radio Leakage, an aptly titled record for one that is all over the map. Like turning the radio dials and putting all those songs on one album, Misc Radio Leakage both strives and struggles in the seemingly random way the songs, and album, unfolds. Fusing indie-rock with post-punk, experimental rock with new wave, and lots of noise with plenty of spacious quiet moments, the complexity and confusion of this disc are matched only by the ability to swallow the band's indigestible sound. And though they do hit it on the head at times, the majority of the album seems too loose, too unorganized to really impact you unless you're looking for something in that style. And for those patient listeners, or those seeking something a bit structured, but still far out there, you could win with this one. I'll give it a B-.
