 Nottingham, England's Scout Niblett's Too Pure/Beggars Banquet debut, Kidnapped By Neptune, recorded by Steve Albini at his Electric Audio Studios, features lyrics as unpredictable as the music. With her startling, frail voice and indie sensibilities, Niblett delivers a record that thrives on loud-to-soft indie-rock that, at first glance, seems to be intimate indie electric folk, before Niblett bursts into a sheer rock attack. It's this approach that keeps each song both intimate and edgy, and makes this an interest, albeit hard album to swallow at first. But, once it gets its claws into you, it's all over. I'll give it a B+.
