Muzzle
Betty Pickup (Reprise Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Everyone once in awhile a flat out good rock band comes on. Forget such labels as "punk" and "alternative." Let's get back to the basics...Rock N' Roll. When it was about the music, not about an imagine. Muzzle delivers perfectly with "Betty Pickup." An eleven track straight forward, rock album.

First we start off with a very hooky guitar, pounding bass, and loud drums. Then the vocals come on and the true melody of the song "Not a Singalong" comes together. As the words "this is not a singalong" spits out, you can't help but want to sing along. The song is very contagious. Then comes the gentle, but still hard rocking song, "What A Bore." A few tracks later we come to "Bleed On." A guitar intro starts the song off. Then the vocals bleed in. Then the rest of the band enters to set the pace of the song. "Glue," "Beautiful Truth," and "Come On Down" follow it. Then we come to "Bay Windows." A distorted bass into starts off the song. Beautifully composed. Then "Flying Lesson," and "Goner" finish the CD off.

Muzzle is a great band that will be climbing charts in the near future. I would give this CD an A. It is just beautifully composed! Keep your eyes open for these guys! And pick this CD up at your local CD store or visit Reprise Online (keyword: "Reprise" on America Online) or on the Web (http://www.RepriseRec.com) and order the CD Online.
