SHOW REVIEW: Lords Of Acid
Roseland Theatre-Portland, Oregon (November 5th, 1997)

So I'm not a smoker, but I had to stop for cigarettes on the way home - it REALLY was that good!

We started off the eve tucked away "safely" in the balcony during "Jack Of Jill". I tried REALLY hard to like this band, but I guess I was ready for the Lords of Acid. I just wasn't into girls spitting on each other. go figure.

Anyway, once they started preparing the stage for LOA, it didn't take long to realize we were in for something very special. After all, how many other bands out there have pink and green furry mike stands??? Well, when LOA took the stage, and "The Most Wonderful Girl" began, suddenly the balcony just didn't seem good enough and we NEEDED to be down on the floor as close to the stage as possible - to truly experience the intense sights and sounds.

There was a lot of "audience participation", which was sometimes hard to tell if it was real and spontaneous - or staged. I mean, how many girls out there would know exactly how far they could strip to "Pussy Round" before being kicked out of an all-ages show? No matter, I had my eye on a VERY FINE shirtless Belgium guitar player by then! ;)

The encore was truly the highlight of the show - all the favorites... "Rough Sex", "Let's Get High", "I Sit on Acid", etc, all running together into an absolute FRENZY. WOW!...... (got a smoke?)......
