SHOW REVIEW: 7 Goats
December 12th, 1997-Pittsburgh, PA (Dance Alloy Neighborhood Dance Theater)

By: Jeff Lockwood

Sitting on the floor among the artsy intellectuals, I watched 7 Goats perform their set. Some of the shoeless audience members laughed, some of them left and some of them just stared in awe. You see, 7 Goats is not exactly a band and they are not exactly a performance art group. They are both. They also throw in a lot of improvisation, in fact, their whole set is improvised...I think.

Some people may be put off by this trio while others get confused and walkout. Worse yet, some people will try to label it. However, some words, or labels must be used to relate the 7 Goats experience. And that is just what they are...an experience.

7 Goats is an expression of anything that you can't really express, but really feel you have to. They are something's to be ingested when everything else in your world gets too predictable and stupid. You should take it seriously, but remain open and never take things too seriously. Walk out, take part or shut up.
