Battery
Momentum (COP Records)

By: DJ Dysdynia

Battery is the combined musical efforts of Shawn Brice, Evan Sorenstein, and the beautiful Maria Azevedo. Momentum is the band's first single off of their fourth full length release, Aftermath. In only 6 tracks, Battery demonstrates the expanse of their talents. The CD begins with "The Betrayal," a very emotionally powerful, forcibly danceable and representatively industrial track. The next song is "This Much," which consists of hard guitar strokes, real drums, and maybe some minimalistic keyboard effects. The combination lacks many of the common elements found in a industrial music, giving way to a live or hard rock sound. Proving Battery, a band who is eloquently proficent with electronics, can excel at other styles. The CD continues with an upbeat, more vehement, "Headcheck," and then slows the pace with an industrial ballad, "Doppleganger." Instead of consisting of 6 different remixes of the same song, Momentum has two remixes of "The Betrayal," two to remixes of "Theme" and some other previously unreleased cuts. The new single will give any fan of Battery an irresistible appetite for the new album due out soon.
