 As you make your way through this eponymous debut from Clarksburg, WV's Drain Babies a wide range of influences comes to mind. The roots rock of Mellencamp and Petty, the angry young man sounds of Elvis Costello and Graham Parker, the raw punk of the Sex Pistols, Beatle-esque pop and even touches of rockabilly all come together into a highly enjoyable collection of eleven tracks that are a bit ragged around the edges and are refreshingly diverse, yet still gel as a whole. Definitely one of the best releases I've heard coming out of WV.
