Je M'aime
PIG & SOW (Invisible Records)

By: DJ Dysdynia

Je M'aime is a conjunctive work between Invisible Records' recording artists, Raymond Watts (or PIG) and his "girlfriend," Anna Wildsmith (or SOW). Both artists have had previous releases and are not novices in the music arena. PIG has SINSATION, WRECKED, and PRAISE THE LARD to his credit (not including his many works with KMFDM such as "Sin, Sex, and Salvation") and in 1998 Anna Wildsmith made her debut with Sick. Je M'aime (French for "I love myself") does not contain industrial dance music but, a poetic monologue performed by SOW with musical atmosphere developed by PIG. Anna Wildsmith uses her accent and dramatic tones to illustrate different poems covering an array of subject matters in different languages. The tracks "The Rock," "The World Is My Oyster," "Manripe" and "Face of Suede" are done in English but the remaining three are done in Italian and French. The background ambiance ranges from sexy, sultry trumpet and saxophone to miscellaneous sounds of whips cracking, breaking glass, and heavy breathing. This work is similar to SOW's previous release, Sick, and caters more to an audience who enjoy live dramatic performance art rather than hard hitting industrial music.
