The Seven Hearts
Broke My Hand b/w Heart of Swords 7" (self released)

By: Jeb Branin

Not often do you hear a punk band that has managed to develop a unique sound by concocting an amalgamation of classic sounds. THE SEVEN HEARTS do just that. By merging diverse punk flavorings they have forged a style all their own. I hear heavy doses of country punk ala later (IMPATIENT) YOUTH mixed with '80 style L.A. punk ala bands like the legendary X and contemporary alt rock influences. Initially the whole thing sounded like a mess without any one sound dominate enough to ground the music. Subsequent listens, however, made me aware that that was the point of it all. THE SEVEN HEARTS don't want to be grounded by any one style... the want to develop their own. In that they succeeded.
