Nocturnal Rites
The Sacred Talisman (CMC International)

 Power metal has certainly had times when it was more popular but it has never had a time when it was of better quality. Evidence of that fact is contained in "The Sacred Talisman" by NOCTURNAL RITES. Solid yet melodic metal riffing, gargantuan song structures and super clean vocals that soar on the wings of eagles are all marks of great power metal and N.R. possesses each in spades. In many ways the band reminds me of a more grounded version of HELLOWEEN, especially on tracks like "Free At Last". Unlike many of their counterparts there is almost no pretension in the music of NOCTURNAL RITES. The song always comes before the individual musicians prowess thus making for a an extremely tight sound and a very enjoyable listen. Great stuff.
