 What can I say? If you don't fall in love with Anneke after hearing her voice then you are either dead or like men. Listening to her sing is such an intimate experience that I worry my wife will get mad at me for it. But THE GATHERING is more than a voice. Anneke has a band that creates music that is deeply moving and provocative thus enhancing her delivery even more. Yes it is metal and sometimes it gets downright crunchy but that doesn't diminish the special, and distinctly non metal scene-esque, connection THE GATHERING creates between band and listener. "Superheat" captures this unique vibe in a live setting and highlights many of the best tracks from the last three GATHERING discs. For fans this extremely well produced and vibrant recording will be a must have, for newcomers or those not in the know, "Superheat" serves almost as a "best of" introduction to the group. Either way it is something to add to your next shopping list. Oh yeah, and you may want to get a few candles and a good bottle of wine to enhance the mood...
