Krakatoa
Channel Static Blackout (Second Nature Recordings)

By: Alex Steininger

At first Krakatoa comes off as a pussy hardcore band. You know, a melodic punk outfit with bad metal, screaming vocals; the type of band that can't figure out what they want to be. But, then I listened to the album a few more times and realized it was a rather intense hardcore record with plenty of melody to help it along.

Plenty powerful and filled with earth shattering screams and slicing guitar licks (not to mention thunderous beats), Krakatoa deliver the powerfully melodic, highly intense, and deeply emotional hardcore on their debut CD-EP, Channel Static Blackout. Fierce, fiery, and creatively lively, the album shakes, rattles, and rumbles with the best of them. I'll give it a B-.
